Lauren discovered her passion for interior design while working for many years as a leader in the interior design industry in the Baltimore area. Hanson achieved a high degree of success in commercial interior architecture on projects encompassing corporate, hospitality, residential, and education design. In 2004 she brought her distinct talent and immense body of knowledge to Ringling College of Art & Design in Sarasota, Florida. As the Assistant Director of Facilities and Capital Construction, Hanson is responsible for interior design and project management of new construction and renovations at the College. During her tenure at Ringling College, she has led the interior design on large scale projects including the new Alfred R. Goldstein Library, Richard and Barbara Basch Visual Arts Center, and the recently opened Sarasota Art Museum at the Ringling College Museum Campus. The Alfred R. Goldstein Library received the ALA/IIDA Library Interior Design Award and the AIA Florida Design Award of Excellence | New Work.
Jeffrey Brown, IALD, IES
As a nationally recognized designer in the lighting industry, Jeff brought his experience to the Tampa/St. Pete area 5 years ago to build a lighting design team that is developing a new paradigm in the Design/Build electrical contracting market. During his 35-year professional career, he has provided the successful lighting design for more than forty million square feet of diverse interior and exterior space types. He has a successful history of working in the design and construction industry and holds a BA in Interior Design/Human Environment & Design from Michigan State University.
At Power Design Engineering, Jeff is the Lead Senior Lighting Designer, leading a talented team of 7 lighting designers focused on multi-family, hospitality, assisted living and student housing projects. As a specialized group within Power Design Engineering, LLC, the Lighting Design Studio’s core function is to provide basis of design professional architectural lighting and controls design, specification and documentation on select Power Design Engineering projects.
Ya Levy-La'ford is an artist, educator and foremost a transporter working between the visual and our community through a wide range of mediums including paint, sculpture, installation, video and sound. La'ford is known for her site-specific installations of her bold, geometric paintings to explore themes of transformation and transcendence. She builds each work with a unique vocabulary of intersecting lines and gestural repetition that create distinctive visual impact. Her labyrith patterns are both an exploration of self and place, as well as a reflection of her Jamaican background. Complex yet minimal, La'ford's work emphasizes constrasts between light and dark, positive and negative space and draws connections between interconnectivity and healing.
